Application of Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) for the Detection of Extreme Precipitation Change

چکیده

Remote sensing has frequently been employed to monitor extreme climatic events, especially droughts, by identifying the anomalies of vegetation activity from regional global scale. However, limited research addressed performance remote on detecting precipitation events. By using Middle and Lower Reaches Yangtze River (MLR-YR) in China as an example, this paper examines application satellite-derived normalized difference index (NDVI) for change events 1982 2012. The performances three NDVI-based indices, including minimum, mean, maximum NDVIs, were examined capture sensibility changes results show not only common enhanced trends, but also obvious spatial discrepancies between intensity frequency MLR-YR. As its terrestrial vegetation, coincided with that activity, which was represented minimum NDVI. In addition, similar patterns found standard deviation NDVI trend intensity. Furthermore, correlation coefficients relatively greater than Our support hypothesis is more suited response MLR-YR region, comparison other two indices.

Early Drought Detection by Spectral Analysis of Satellite Time Series of Precipitation and Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI)

The time lag between anomalies in precipitation and vegetation activity plays a critical role in early drought detection as agricultural droughts are caused by precipitation shortages. The aim of this study is to explore a new approach to estimate the time lag between a forcing (precipitation) and a response (NDVI) signal in the frequency domain by applying cross-spectral analysis. We prepared ...

Multifractal Downscaling of Rainfall Using Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) in the Andes Plateau

In this paper, a multifractal downscaling technique is applied to adequately transformed and lag corrected normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) in order to obtain daily estimates of rainfall in an area of the Peruvian Andean high plateau. This downscaling procedure is temporal in nature since the original NDVI information is provided at an irregular temporal sampling period between 8 a...

Preliminary comparison of landscape pattern-normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) relationships to Central Plains stream conditions.

We explored relationships of water quality parameters with landscape pattern metrics (LPMs), land use-land cover (LULC) proportions, and the advanced very high resolution radiometer (AVHRR) normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) or NDVI-derived metrics. Stream sites (271) in Nebraska, Kansas, and Missouri were sampled for water quality parameters, the index of biotic integrity, and a hab...

Global Trends in Seasonality of Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI), 1982-2011

A 30-year series of global monthly Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) imagery derived from the Global Inventory Modeling and Mapping Studies (GIMMS) NDVI3g archive was analyzed for the presence of trends in changing seasonality. Using the Seasonal Trend Analysis (STA) procedure, over half (56.30%) of land surfaces were found to exhibit significant trends. Almost half (46.10%) of the ...
